Reach Your Potential and Community at the Turkey Trot

Action Potential Turkey Trot

Family and community have been the cornerstone of Action Potential owners Kristen Wilson and Kathy Dixon’s business focus. By establishing a culture that prioritizes customer service and a unique personalized experience, each client who comes to Action Potential for physical therapy enters the door as a client but leaves as a member of the AP family. This focus on establishing a sense of community has not stopped at the 4 walls of the AP office, but is seen with the company’s commitment to community involvement. Whether through community lectures, sponsoring local events, or most notably, the Action Potential Turkey Trot, Action Potential takes pride in being part of the landscape of Garnet Valley. The Action Potential Turkey Trot, spearheaded by Kristen Wilson and with the aid of Action Potential staff, family members, and volunteers, has been held every Thanksgiving morning at Garnet Valley High School since 2013. The Turkey Trot offers an opportunity for the community to join together and enjoy the challenge and camaraderie of celebrating health and wellness by exercising together. Each year the Turkey Trot has grown, celebrating close to 1,000 participants in 2018. The race includes a 5k run/walk, 1 mile walk/roll, kids fun run, and activities for the whole family including face paining, music and a photo booth.

Not only does the Garnet Valley Turkey trot bring together families from all over the county, it offers an opportunity to give back. A portion of the proceeds from the race support local beneficiaries. Since 2014 the beneficiary of the Turkey Trot has been Safe Harbor of Chester County which provides shelter, food, and counseling to the homeless. Safe Harbor is the largest shelter for single men and only shelter for single women in Chester county. They provide a community lunch program and pop-up food pantry for more than 10% of the county population that is food insecure. 90% of the budget is from private funding sources, and community partners like Action Potential are critical for Safe Harbor to fulfill its mission.

Consider joining Action Potential this Thanksgiving and embrace the opportunity to promote the wellness of your family and this wonderful community. For more information or to sign up check gvturkeytrot.com
