Zach Mitchell, PT, DPT

Zach is a native of Lititz PA in Lancaster County which is where his love for the human body and all things movement began. Zach first became interested in injuries and rehabilitation as a young guy witnessing his uncle, a former MLB player, frequently navigating physical rehab due to sport related injuries. The interest grew during his teenage years while playing 3 sports throughout high school, where he became aware of the effect of exercise and weight training on the body, as well as the importance of rehab and recovery in performance. Zach took his interests to Widener University for undergraduate and graduate school, to receive his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. At Widener, his connection to Action Potential began as Kristen Wilson was an all-star adjunct teacher and he was roommates with the up and coming stud PT, Chris Slabek. Since PT school, Zach has had a passion for the foundations of movement and biomechanics that we develop naturally from birth. These patterns of movement, or lack thereof, are often foundational to how Zach treats his patients. He also has special interest in postural organization of the body, breathing mechanics and the neurology/psychology of movement. Zach loves his profession because he has a career revolved around helping people. Creating relationships with his patients is not only integral to the rehabilitative process but also rewarding personally.

When Zach is not treating patients, he spends most of his time with his wife Christina, daughter Emma, and sons: Max, Mason and Miles. They enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors. Zach is also an avid runner, reader, and Philly sports fan.

Client Testimonial:

I received care for tennis elbow on my left and golfers elbow on my right side. It took about a month to eliminate all symptoms and I accomplished this while continuing activity. While I was approaching the end of my elbow issues, I injured my peroneal tendon and my care was quickly pivoted to address my foot injury. I also continued activity with the foot injury when I suffered a rolled foot. Care continued as did my activity which was my choice and I strained a hip flexor and re-injured my foot pitching softball. My care pivoted again to get me back on the field in a week to pitch in the championship game with my 2 injuries. My care was outstanding and I was able to pitch in championship series 3 games all in one day and my team was successful in winning 2 of the 3 games and the championship. I could have never played without Zach’s help and guidance. AP is highly recommended. It was 100 percent my choice to try and continue playing the season with my injuries.” – A.Z.

“Just finished a series of visits to Action Potential KSQ and I feel MUCH BETTER – no more pain and much more mobility in my shoulders. The whole team there is very friendly and welcoming, my pt Alicia knew exactly what I needed and set me on path of getting progressively stronger with each visit. I met with Zach who knew just what I needed and kept me progressing. Through all of the steps and exercises Zach was always willing to answer all of my “Why?” questions… THANKS to you both! I would readily recommend or return to Action Potential !!”- K.H.

Everything was great. Zach was a wonderful therapist who understood my goals and got me achieving them, I also learned a lot from him on what I should keep doing to prevent injuries like this in the future. I can’t imagine a better PT experience!”- E.G.

“My experience with Dr Zach Mitchell has always been exceedingly beneficial. I have L4 and L5 back problems and I have been with Zach for about 4 years. I have been to many physical therapists during the last 30 years and I can tell you that over the years no one has helped me as much as Zach. Zach’s therapy program for me, along with pain injections, has enabled me to keep walking. One aspect of his work which has made him more successful with therapy is that he works with his patients one on one. He doesn’t tell you to do ten bridges and then walk away. I think he has a special gift for what he does.”- D.F.
